This fairly challenging run takes you on a tour through the campus of Texas State University. For most of the first mile on the outbound segment, it seems that you do nothing but climb steps going uphill. Of course, you get to do it all in reverse coming back in! To be just a 3-mile run, it will have you breathing hard, and perhaps being reminded for the next few days of the whereabouts of your hill-climbing muscles. But once you get up on top of the hill, the views make it well worth the effort - especially at night.
This loop was measured at 1.54 miles to the turnaround at the bell tower, for a total out-and-back distance of 3.08 miles. Making the optional loop around the SWT water tower adds about 0.6 miles; and if that's not enough, you can always hop out onto the track around the soccer field next to the water tower, and just run laps until you feel like you have about 2 miles left in you!
