As you might guess by the title, this run is on a trail that, for the most part, follows along the San Marcos River. A good place to start is at the City Park Pavilion (see the “1” marker on the map below), but you can start at any point. The trail is partly hard-packed gravel and partly paved surfaces. Restrooms and water are available at the Playscape Children's Park (where Comal Street dead-ends at the park).
An optional treat that is especially nice in warm weather is to run the trail for a while, then jump into the San Marcos River. 72 degrees year-round! Very cool!
If you run an out-and-back from the City Park Pavilion and use all of the trails, you can get in a run of approximately 3 miles. For a map of the PetFest 5K course, which is run on this trail, click here.
