MARCH MEETING - The March meeting of the San Marcos Runners Club will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2nd at the San
Marcos Activity Center (for a map, click here). The speaker will be SMRC member and race director David Alexander, who will be presenting the first of a series of workshops on race management. This first session will focus on the topic of course
set-up.
The meeting will follow our weekly Club run, which begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Courthouse square.
Our meetings usually feature the exchange of lots of news and discussion about current goings-on in the San Marcos running community. Plus, you can meet and hang out with local runners, and maybe even line up a partner for your training runs.
Meetings of the San Marcos Runners Club are open to the public, and anyone in the community who is a runner, jogger, or walker, or who just has an interest in those activities or in fitness in general, is encouraged and welcome to attend.
The ARA - Moe’s Better Half Marathon and the “Speak Up for Kids” CASA 5K are looking for some volunteers to help out with packet pick-up for the races, which is on Saturday, 3/6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are two locations, RunTex on Riverside and at the Tanger Outlet Center in San Marcos.

It’s time again to renew our SMRC memberships and pay our dues for 2010. The Club voted at the January meeting to reinstate dues and formal memberships after giving them a rest during 2009. The dues are very reasonable - $10 for an individual and $15 for a family - and we do request that everyone fill out the membership form as well. The membership form can be downloaded here, and forms and dues can either be mailed to the address on the form or handed to Teresa Medina at a weekly Club run.
In addition to voting privileges in the Club, all registered households will receive Club Running, the new quarterly magazine published by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), of which the SMRC is a member. We are also working on soliciting some relevant discounts and developing other benefits that will add value to a membership in the Club.
San Marcos Runners Club T-shirts and tank tops are now still available! These handsome garments, which are emblazoned on the front with the stylish and venerable
SMRC logo, are made of 100 percent preshrunk cotton. The shirts are available in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large sizes, and are priced at $12.00 each.
