Last week the Firecracker 5K Evening Run, sponsored by the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department had a very nice turnout of local and area runners.
The cloud cover and lower temperatures made running conditions almost ideal. The rain held off until after the race was over and the runners had made their way home.
Doug Framke was the male overall champion with a 17:55 time, with San Antonio runner Pereilla Savestrand taking the overall champion award for the women.
Local runners in the 14-and-under age group included Tommy Brinkman, Wimberley, as first in 20:37; Esai Torres, San Marcos, in second in 20:39; and Carl Rindahl in third with a 21:59 time. Joey Galaviz had fourth in 25:04; Mario Flores, Kyle, had a 25:34; Austin Bryan had 25:46 and eight-year-old Aidan Seibert, Kyle, ran a 33:07 time.
Mary Frances Finch, nine years old, took first for the females with a 26:51 time, with Isabel Torres running a 29:10; Skyler Seibert, Kyle, had a 31:56 and Sarah Mock ran a 45:21.
In the 15-19 age category Edward Chabarria, Kyle, took first place in 19:00; Frankie Torres had second in 19:55 and Henry Finch finished in third in 21:47. Kenny Weber, Kyle, ran in at 23:21 and Blain Bagley, Martindale, had a 23:27 time. For the female age group, Mia Finch had second in 23:21; Katelyn
Sundquist ran in third place with 34:25 and Summer Stoermer had fourth in 36:22.
The 20-29 age group found Sean Ashman in second place with a 20:55 time and Sean Merriman in third at 21:28. Patrick Kellner ran a 27:01; Aaron Pennington ran a 28:58; Andrew Jarratt had a 29:34 time; Billy Wells ran a 29:50 and Jesus Natal, Jr., came in at 38:06.
For the women, it was Jennifer Garcia in first place with a 23:19 and Jessica Wells in second with a 26:39. Rebecca Gough, Kyle, ran a 28:07; Leah York, Kyle, ran a 29:09; Rachel Hunt ran 20:26; Lindsay Woods, 29:31; Mary Jeanne Altura, 29:49; Hannah
Lunz, 30:27; Lori Sanchez, 30:44; Kara DeLeon, Wimberley, 31:10; Dana Kellner ran a 31:27; Karla Alvizo ran a 36:57; Abby Dale had a 38:26; Jessica Jenkins ran in at 38:46 and Christina Dooley ran a 40:35 time.
The male 30-39 age group had Joe Merchant in second with a 21:15; Eddie Mendoza in third with a 21:24 and John McGlothlin in fourth with a 22:03. Mario Flores, Kyle, ran a 29:03; Richard
Ornelas ran a 33:26 and Thomas Medrano ran in at 39:40.
The female age group found Anna Jaso, Martindale, in first with a 23:44; Iris Barrera in second with a 26:47; Liesela Austin in third at 28:22 and Danette Myers in fourth with a 29:21. Heather Seibert, Kyle, ran a 30:14; Laura Chabarria, Kyle, ran a 30:15; Cindy Jetton had 31:23; Debbie Silva had 32:00; Deanna DeLeon, Martindale, ran a 32:12; Tanya Wood ran a 32:47; Marissa McGlothlin, 34:15; Deborah Fullman, 34:56; Norma Medrano, 39:41, and Jennifer Ornelas ran in at 41:33.
The 40-49 men had Samuel Fullman in second place in 20:48, and former Texas State cross country runner Mark Wolfshohl ran a 20:54 for third place. Eric Rindahl ran in at fourth with a 22:09; Coach Eloy Collazo cruised in at 23:22; David Schneider ran a 28:34; Michael Myers ran a 28:35, and Stephen Sundquist ran in at 34:25.
The women had Rae Ann Roberts take first place in 26:54, with Debbie Schneider in second in 28:53 and Diana Esparza in third with a 29:19 time. Maryann DeLeon, Wimberley, ran a 30:12; Maria Gomez, Kyle, 30:20, with Ro Merchant coming in at 31:13; Becky Miller in 32:12; Laura Mason, 32:39; Ruth Palacio, Kyle, at 35:39; Melinda Weber, Kyle, 36:14; Mandy Bagley, Martindale in 38:30 and Tracy Mock ran a 41:34.
In the male 50-59 age group, Dr. Abel Galaviz took fourth in 26:35. For the ladies, Elma Minor, Staples had a third-place finish in a 29:56 time.
For the male 60-69 age group, Daniel Garza, Martindale had third place with a 34:37, and the women had Eva Sanders take first place with a 28:30 time.
For the 70-99 age group, John Wooley from Newport Beach, California took first for the men in 31:04, and Vonda Lee Adorno, Austin, took first for the women in 31:55.
