Last week the Thankful Turkey 5K, sponsored by the Bluebonnet Lions Club of San Marcos, was held out at the River Ridge course.
A good crowd of local and nearby area runners was on hand for a perfect day for running. Cool temperatures and no wind made for excellent running conditions.
With more than 150 runners competing for a turkey, ham or pie award for placing in an age category, it was made all the better as those that may not have won an award were offered a chance to be a winner at drawings after the race. It took almost 30 minutes to go through the gifts from sponsors of the race. Not many runners left without something to take home.
